Hello and Welcome!

My name is Éabha Sullivan and I am passionate about music. As a transition year idea, I have created a music program to deliver to primary schools.

Music accelerates brain development in children

Inspired by this important fact I have devised a series of classes that are stand-alone, for once off delivery, or work well as a consecutive series. The four core aims of It Only Takes A Minim are detailed below…

Life Enhancing Skills

Sensory Development

Music helps the body and the mind work together. Through songs, rhythm awareness and experimenting with beat, notes and singing range, children can improve their sensory skills.

Fun

Collective musical activities facilitate personal expression and group social development in an easy and enjoyable way.

Musicality

Music is about so much more than tin whistle or learning an instrument for orchestra. Understanding and appreciation of music can open a magical world

Mindfulness

Music can energise and be uplifting but it also can encourage self-regulation and promote calm. Because of this I always end my classes with a music based mindful exercise!

A Little Bit About Me

My name is Éabha Sullivan and I am in Transition Year (TY) in Gaelcholáiste Choilm in Ballincollig. I am currently undertaking grade 7 in classical Flute and I have reached grade 6 in the violin. I have been taking lessons in traditional flute for many years. As part of a TY challenge to myself I have taken up the piano.

I have performed on national television when I competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest having progressed from the qualifying rounds with my own song. In 2015, with the AiR choir, I performed in the world EXPO in Milan and in 2016 I sang in New York, in the Lincoln center on St. Patrick’s Day. I performed in front of 20,000 people in Cork at the turning on the of the Christmas Lights last year where I had solo singing parts as well as a flute performance during Fairytale of New York.  It was a fun filled event! For the last 3 summers I have volunteered at a camp called Summer Sing!, my role was as music assistant.

I agree with Ella Fitzgerald who she said “The only thing better than singing is more singing.”
